The Music Ministry at St. John’s is an important aspect of the church’s life and worship. Music invites us to glorify God in faithful service, to access and engage with our best selves, form deep connections with one another and the broader community, and to grow in our knowledge of God’s grace.
Services at St. John’s Kanata North are led musically by St. John's Choir. People of the parish support the music ministry enthusiastically.
Would you like to join our choir? The benefits of singing in a choir are many: it reduces stress, offers lively community, develops a sense of belonging and connection, and can help improve lung function...and there are so many more benefits! Read more on Choral Canada's website.
If you'd like to know more, or you'd like to consider joining St. John's Choir, please contact our Parish Office, leaving your name and telephone number. The ability to read music is a great asset. Singers will need to be willing to blend their voices with other choristers' voices. We look forward to welcoming you.
St. John's Choir is an SATB chamber choir of adult singers who share their love of music and their faith through their dedication to the great musical tradition of the Anglican Church. They lead a variety of styles of music, ranging from plainchant through the centuries of beloved liturgical music to contemporary songs. The choir sings regularly in church liturgies, including Eucharist services Sunday by Sunday, Holy Week services, our annual Advent Carol Service, and the occasional Choral Evensong. The choir leads music at Sunday morning liturgies from September to June, with a well-deserved summer holiday. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings.
